Celebrate your days off by creating art with your loved ones! February 15 & 16, The Rockwell’s Education Center will feature inspiring art projects for your family.

We understand the value of learning and the connections that can be made in stimulating, inviting, and nurturing environments. By offering family events, we advance our vision to provoke curiosity, connection and reflection about the American experience.  As always, drop in with the family any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. explore the galleries with an Art Hunt and get creative in our Family Exploration Studio.

Kids and families are invited to participate in these FREE art activities — no registration is required.

FunDay Sunday: Make An Arctic Animal Puppet

Sunday, February 15, 2015 | Noon – 3:00 p.m.

Each month, join us at The Rockwell for Funday Sunday – a series of completely free family activities designed to encourage creativity, self-expression, and an interest in art an early age. Visitors of all ages are invited to The Rockwell Museum for an afternoon of hands-on creativity.

This month, make your own Inuit-style felt animal puppet inspired by the animals that live in the North’s cold and frigid Arctic region of the United States. Traditional Inuit art depicts the wildlife of the  arctic such as polar bears, caribou, whales, owls and fish. Use bold colors, distinct lines, geometric shapes and exciting patterns to design your puppet.

Drop in any time between noon and 3:00 p.m. to participate in this fun family art activity!

School’s Out Recess: Figure Drawing and Films

Monday, February 16, 2015 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Sketch artist Marty Breinlinger will help you to tap into your creativity and get inspired by the beautiful artwork that surrounds you. Watch short mythical Native American tales on video in the Museum’s Education Center, focusing on traditional legends and the four seasons.
