The Rockwell serves as a community center that values a high quality, cultural experience for visitors, residents and supporters. That’s why we’re proud to once again present our Annual Dia de los Muertos celebration, our most popular program for families and youth!
Throughout the month of October, regional middle-school Spanish Language students visit The Rockwell, learn about Mexican culture and traditions, and create decorative objects for their own Dia de Los Muertos student ofrenda (altar), on display in The Rockwell’s Student Gallery. This educational initiative integrates cultural traditions with classroom education and creates an opportunity for students to connect an artistic experience, all while learning outside of the classroom.
The month culminates in The Rockwell’s annual celebration of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican holiday steeped in tradition that honors friends and family members through art, dance, music and festive foods. Don’t miss out!
Celebrate with us!
This program is made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc.
