Opening remarks begin at 5:15 p.m.
Free and open to family and friends of HSLC students. Refreshments will be served.

Join us in celebrating a new student exhibit by the Corning-Painted Post Area School District High School Learning Center. Students designed and painted birds and symbols that represent aspects of their hopes for their community. A sculpture from The Rockwell’s collection, Birds, Animals and Spirits by Abraham Anghik Ruben, served as their inspiration. These paintings act as the beginning stages of this year’s Alley Art Project mural, to be created throughout the summer. The exhibit will remain on view in The Rockwell’s Student Gallery until June 3, 2015. We will also celebrate last year’s completed mural, Perfect Imperfection.

This project is made possible by grants from The Triangle Fund and Great Circle Foundation Inc.

    About The Alley Art Project

The Alley Art Project is a result of a decade-long partnership between The Rockwell and the High School Learning Center of the Corning-Painted Post Area School District. The Alley Art Project supports students in learning about art, design, and the research associated with the process of art making – all the while cultivating a sense of pride, ownership, and connection to the community. Students fulfill their mandatory Art credit through their work at The Rockwell.

"Perfect Imperfection" and the HSLC Students who designed and painted the mural. Located in Denison Park, Corning.
