Long John & The Tights
Join us for the inaugural Rockwell Roadhouse – a live music series featuring regional Americana, folk, and rock bands, right in the lobby of The Rockwell Museum. Let off some steam from your work week at this energetic happy hour event, complete with cash bar and tasty hors d’oeuvres, setting the stage for a great night out in Downtown Corning. Art lovers are welcome to explore The Rockwell’s collection after-hours. Reservations are required for this fun experience with one of the region’s favorite groups.
Kicking off the series is Evil City String Band, a vibrant Americana group hailing from Ithaca, NY. Born from the traditional Appalachian music scene of upstate New York, Evil City String Band turns the dial to 11 by turning traditional and old-time country music into a high-octane, unpretentious, trance-based, rhythmic musical experience.
The group features five established artists, all with unique style and deep understanding of traditional Appalachin music. Rockwell-followers will recognize part of the band from the duo known as Richie & Rosie that performed this past spring.
Richie Stearns (banjo and lead singer) is a legendary founding member of the Horse Flies, and tours and records with Natalie Merchant and Carrie Rodriguez. He has recently come out with a solo album featuring his own compositions. Rosie Newton (fiddle) collaborates with Stephanie Jenkins in the Pearly Snaps and occasionally appears with the Mammals, a rowdy string group born from an “impromptu rum-drinking bash.” Steve Selin (fiddle) plays with the Hogwashers and Evil City Trio. Pat Burke (guitar) performs with Gregor Sayet-Bone in the Country Blues duo, Burke and Bone. Ethan Jodziewicz (bass) is currently studying Double Bass Performance at Ithaca College.
