Youth artwork inspired by Yosemite Valley by Albert Bierstadt, 1880. 78.15.
Many of the paintings in The Rockwell collection are of National Parks in the United States. The National Park System was established 100 years ago, and it was American painters, such as Albert Bierstadt and Thomas Moran, who influenced some of our nation’s presidents (Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson) to make the decision to preserve and protect these special areas of American land.
Beloved Family Favorites Always Available at The Rockwell
NEW! Visit The Rockwell during mid-winter break to be the first to try our all new Art Quest gallery activity! Play and explore with friends and family with this NEW self-guided activity. Leading questions will help young art explorers venture into the galleries to discover artwork and dive deeper into what they find.
- With our Art Hunt, young visitors match snippets of images of the collection to the actual paintings and objects on display throughout the galleries. Complete an Art Hunt and receive a special prize from our Guest Services staff!
- Drop in the Family Exploration Studio where visitors of all ages can drop-in and draw on the light table, put together puzzles, read together in the book nook, and play with hands-on arts activity. Seasonally rotating activity stations allow families to drop in again and again!
- Our I-Spy game is one more way to find hidden details in the masterworks on our walls. Play and explore in the museum galleries, then take your I-Spy book home with you to play again and again.
Remember, kids/teens 17 and under are always free – we’ll see you soon at The Rockwell!
