- Live music by singer-songwriter, Houston Baker. Hailing from Northern Pennsylvania, Houston’s acoustic folk and blues rock sounds are inspired by music greats like John Mayor, Eric Clapton, and The Doors. Houston’s motto, “Make sure to pay attention to your surroundings and express your experience. Our friends from Four Fights Distilling return with a variety of tastings of their specialty, locally-sourced vodka, bourbon, and moonshine. “Corning’s Oldest Distillery” considers it their duty to support the New York agricultural industry while providing the highest quality product possible.- Full museum free and open the public! Warm up with a stroll through the galleries.
What else is on The Crawl?
Exhibit A (22 E. Market St.) – Featuring the opening reception of Melissa Zarem’s “Mapping The Tantrum.” Also enjoy an intimate gallery talk with the artist at 7:30pm.
West End Gallery (12 W. Market St.) – Featuring not one, but TWO artist demonstrations with Bruce Baxter and Terry Oakden. Also enjoy the last evening of “Director’s Choice,” a collection of artwork selected by Gallery Director, Jesse Gardner, exhibited at both West End Gallery and 171 Cedar Arts Center.
The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (52 W. Market St.) – Featuring the “Washington St. Ambient Collective,” a mix of traditional instruments and electronica, played by members of the orchestra. This is a show not to be missed!
The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes (79 W. Market St.) – Featuring Shannah Warwick, a fashion and textile designer with an accessory driven clothing line called BlckBts. Shannah will demonstrate nunofelting, which combines a natural fiber base and merino wool roving. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in the felting process.
Each month, Urban Corning will conclude the evening with a post-crawl social meet-up. This month, join us for a casual evening of drinks at the upstairs bar of Atlas Brick Oven Pizzeria.
What is Urban Arts Crawl?
The Urban Arts Crawl celebrates the burgeoning, unique art scene in historic Downtown Corning, each month presenting distinct artists, exhibitions, and cultural experiences. A self-guided, art-centric trail held on the final Friday of each month (September through May), The Crawl includes stops at internationally acclaimed museums, community art centers and independent galleries alike.
Artist talks, demonstrations, exhibition openings, modern dance performances, public art projects, live music, craft beverage tastings and more make The Crawl a truly festive and diverse experience. Whether you’re a seasoned art collector or just out to see something different, the Urban Arts Crawl in Corning will delight your creative side.
