American Dance Asylum and The Rockwell Museum, in partnership with The Arts Council of Southern Finger Lakes, present “Truck” – a breathtaking evening with Bridgman|Packer Dance. Staged in the parking lot of The Rockwell Museum, an ordinary box truck evolves from its utilitarian form into a reimagined micro-world of visions and transformation – such is the enigmatic wizardry of Bridgman|Packer Dance. Masterfully creating cinematic magic in real-time for both the proscenium stage and in their site-specific Truck, the company’s skill in partnering video with live performance can evoke the hauntingly vivid world of American painter Edward Hopper, capture the arid beauty of the Mojave desert or transform a simple duet to a kaleidoscopic wonder – all in one thrilling evening.

Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer, Co-Artistic Directors
Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer’s innovative work developing “Video Partnering” — the integration of live performance and video technology — has been acclaimed for its highly visual and visceral alchemy of the live and virtual. Their works enhance the possibilities of dance by multiplying, transforming and manipulating their own life-size video images and cinematic imagery, intertwining them with live performance. Bridgman and Packer were the first to receive a joint Guggenheim Fellowship Award for collaborative work. They have also received grants from NEA, NEFA, NYSCA, USArtists International, Performing Americas Project, two NYFA Choreography Fellowships, and four NPN Creation Fund Awards. They have performed internationally in venues including: New York City Center, SpoletoUSA, Lincoln Center, Jacob’s Pillow, Bates Dance Festival, Munich International Dance Festival, and Festival Internacional de Artes Escenicas.
This project is supported by the New York State DanceForce with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Dance Program.
Support for Mid Atlantic Tours is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts with additional support provided by the Delaware Division of the Arts.
