CORNING, NY – The Rockwell Museum has received a very generous gift from William H. Goodrich, President and Chief Executive Officer on behalf of LeChase Construction, to renovate the Family Exploration Studio. Renovation of the gallery will include new furniture and fixtures which will enhance the creative educational offerings for visitors of all ages.
“I am pleased to support this unique facility and firmly support The Rockwell’s efforts to provide education in a fun, family friendly environment,” said Mr. Goodrich.
This initiative supports the larger educational vision of The Rockwell, to be a leader in providing authentic art and cultural education experiences. A major part of The Rockwell Museum mission is focused on educational programs and activities that explore art about the American experience. Education staff members at The Rockwell host over 11,000 students annually for tours and programs and also bring the arts into local schools – serving youth that may not have other alternatives for arts education.
“We are so thrilled to receive this generous gift. The re-modeling of the space has allowed us to re-design and add some exciting new experiences for families, in order to strengthen and broaden the educational experience at The Rockwell. The Studio re-opens this month, and it will be better than ever,” says Mary Mix, senior museum educator.
“Learning through the arts enables every child to develop the critical thinking, collaborative and creative skills necessary to succeed in today’s ever-changing world. And we know Museum visitors are not just spectators but active participants. We are thrilled to be able to offer this new space throughout the year,” says Mix.
