This interactive performance by dancer Maia Mahosky will serve as a kick-off to the site-specific dance project, “Spaces,” being staged throughout the Gaffer District as part of the Urban Arts Crawl on August 31, 2018. The purpose of the “Spaces” series is to explore different spaces throughout the Gaffer District and how they can be enhanced through the presence of bodies and movement.
Artist Biography
Maia Mahosky is a dancer and choreographer from Wellsboro, PA. Maia studied dance at 171 Cedar Arts before graduating from Goucher College, where she majored in dance with concentrations in choreography and dance administration. While at Goucher, Maia performed in numerous student, faculty and guest artist works, choreographed and staged her own works, and served as the president of Goucher’s improvisation club. Since then, Maia has worked with dance companies including LehrerDance, ClancyWorks Dance Company and Deep Vision Dance Company. She currently teaches modern, African and pre-ballet classes at Rhythms Academy of Dance, and choreographs for Hamilton-Gibson Productions. Maia’s most recent choreographic endeavor, “The Spaces Project,” will be performed throughout Corning’s Gaffer District on August 31, 2018.
