All activities at the Art Lab are inspired by the art and architecture of The Rockwell Museum – that means every time you visit there’s something new to see and do!

For all of 2023, you’ll experience The Rockwell Museum’s theme, Heroes, through projects and exhibits at the Art Lab. Enjoy a new round of activities connected to the exciting special exhibitions and Rockwell collection artworks during your next visit.

  • Model Magic: Use this lightweight modelling material to sculpt a critter, object, or anything your imagination desires! You can take it home with you, or swap with another artist using the trading board.
  • Watercolor Planets: Create a celestial scene using watercolor pencils. See how the colors blend and swirl on your paper when you add water!
  • Moon Phases: Explore the changing face of the moon in this fun STEAM project for school-age artists and their caregivers.
  • Paper Puppets: Decorate a paper bag to look like a critter, with a mouth that opens and closes! Use your new puppet to put on a show in the puppet theater.
  • Magic Wands: Make your very own magical wand featuring stars and streamers. Use it as a prop in the puppet theater!
  • Magna Tiles: Construct the tower of your dreams or create amazing mosaics with the magnetic tiles on the light table.
