Don’t miss the biggest KIDS ROCKWELL event of the year, held annually on the first Sunday of November. Throughout the month of October, middle school Spanish students from the surrounding area visit the Museum to create decorative objects for a Dia de los Muertos student ofrenda that is on view in The Rockwell’s Student Gallery.

The project culminates in The Rockwell’s Annual Dia de los Muertos Family Celebration. Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday steeped in tradition that honors friends and family members through art, dance and festive foods. Join us for an afternoon to decorate sugar skulls, make paper flowers, try traditional foods and learn about this special Mexican holiday.

    • Explore traditions of Mexican culture
    • Meet La Catrina, the famous traditional character made popular by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada
    • Decorate your own sugar skulls
    • Make your own paper flowers with CareFirst
    • Enjoy hot chocolate with Pan de Muerto, a delicious traditional bread
    • Bring a memento or a photo of a loved one for the community ofrenda at the Art Lab
    • Come dressed in your own Dia de los Muertos attire, walk the red carpet, and receive a $5 coupon to The Museum Store!

    Celebrate with us!
