The Rockwell is pleased to once again participate in GlassFest, presented by Corning’s Gaffer District. GlassFest is four days of glassmaking demonstrations, live music, fine and fired art vendors, shopping, food and more.
While you’re downtown for the fun, stop in the Art Lab for hands-on artmaking and exploration. The first 50 visitors to the Art Lab will receive a special gift bag of goodies from Connors Mercantile, Pure Design, and other local Market Street businesses.
Here’s what’s new at the Art Lab this weekend:
- New! For GlassFest Only – Mosaic Suncatchers
Have you ever looked at the sunlight through a stained glass window? Use blue tissue paper to create a piece of the Finger Lakes, and a second one to hang up in your own window at home. - Foil Headdress Project
Inspired by Martine Gutierrez’s arresting Demons: Xochipilli, The Flower Prince photograph, create a special headband that celebrates your unique personality. Pick your favorite colors and celebrate your style! - Complementary Color Masks
Did you know that color is powerful? Artists take color very seriously because it’s a building block of art! The colors you use can change many things about your artwork. Use colors as a spark of inspiration. Then use your colored mask to put on a play! - Very Special Scribbles
Artists find inspiration in all sorts of places – even scribbles and blobs! See what you can create from your own scribbly designs using colored pencils and Art Stix. - And more!
