Annual IB Student Art Exhibition Now on View

In collaboration with the Corning-Painted Post High School, The Rockwell Museum presents this special exhibition featuring four students from the IB Visual Arts Diploma Programme. Under the direction of art teachers Sharron Holland and Lisa Rossi-Sullivan, students Emma Stanton, Lewis Wightman, Gargie Deore and Lydia Robinson are currently featured in The Rockwell’s Student Gallery.

As part of the program, students visited a variety of museums, including The Rockwell, to study and draw inspiration for their own works of art. In addition, students kept a detailed journal to record their project research and write, develop and sketch their ideas. Finally, students curated and installed the exhibition themselves, giving them a broader sense of the many facets of the professional art world.

The IB Diploma Programme encourages students to challenge their creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. It is a thought-provoking course in which students develop analytical skills in problem-solving and divergent thinking, while working towards technical proficiency and gaining confidence as art-makers.

The Rockwell is pleased to host this exhibition and support local students who want to pursue studying visual arts in higher education as well as those who are seeking lifelong enrichment through visual arts. The exhibition is on view March 30 through May 5, 2019.
