New Year, New Family Activities

At The Rockwell, we’re kicking off the New Year with a whole slate of new activities for kids and families – making it easy to make art and culture part of your family’s New Year’s resolution.

Family Exploration StudioProcessed with VSCO

Activities in the Family Exploration Studio change frequently, all with connections to the art on our walls. This month, our Light Table has a natural theme, encouraging you to play with patterns using flower petals, feathers, leaves and images of nature; the activity encourages young minds to consider reflection, translation, and radial patterns.

In our Drawing Corner, get up close and personal with a selection of rocks and minerals. Use a magnifying glass to study the details of your samples, then write about your findings in your journal! Explore the art in the galleries on the third floor, and keep an eye out for interesting rock formations in the large landscape paintings.

FunDay Sunday

rattleEach month, join us at The Rockwell for FunDay Sunday – a series of completely free family activities designed to encourage creativity, self-expression, and an interest in art an early age. Visitors of all ages are invited to drop in any time from noon to 3:00 p.m. for an afternoon of hands-on creativity.
